Watching children and families grow is indeed a privilege for those of us in the helping professions. It is so special to show up for my clients each session and be a consistent, supportive person in their lives. My goal is to model kindness, trust, and efficacy while guiding them through challenging but productive times.
As children grow and new experiences occur it is important to me to help them develop supports and strategies to understand their social emotional health and wellness and develop resiliency and happiness into their adolescents.
In my experience in clinical settings, and in school social work environments, the most effective intervention is a trusting and supportive person in a child’s life. I provide children and adolescents guidance in talking about their mental health and giving them language and tools to self-advocate and take care of their feelings.
I support children and adolescents with anxiety, communication skills, trauma, social skills, self-esteem and school challenges through talk therapy with strategies derived from mindfulness and CBT.
